Brown Tube Sponge
Scientific Name: Agelas Conifera
Class: Demospongiae
Location: Caribbean, Florida Reef Tract
Habitat: Coral reefs, below 10 meters in depth
Interesting Facts: These sponges are so large that small fish can live in it. For example,Cleaner Gobies home is the brown tube sponge. They are around 2.5 meters long. The color is lighy to purplish brown on the outside and yellow to tan inside. The surface is smooth with occasional bumps on it.
Human Impact: Global climate changes and pollution have effected the sponge because it slows the reef-building process.
