Rat Lungworm
Scientific Name: Angiostrongylus Cantonensis

Location: They are found basically anywhere including: Australia, Southwestern Pacific, South and Southeast Asia, Madagascar, Japan, and Taiwan.
Habitat: Their intermediate hosts are snails and slugs. They are specific in their intermediate hot. They must be an invertebrate. In their definite host it has to be a terrestrial mammal, usually rats. But they can also survive in humans and monkeys.
Interesting Facts: The females may produce pheromones to attract males. Some common places they mature are: central nervous system, the meninges, and the eyes.
Human Impact: These animals can cause headache, stiff neck, tingling or painful feelings in the skin, low-grade fever, nausea, and vomiting from consuming raw snails.
